Rules of Half Marathon
1. Event Overview
- Race distance: 21 km (Half Marathon) — timed competitive run.
- Organised by: KVG Medical College & Hospital / KVG Institutions.
- Entry fee: ₹750 (subject to change by race category).
2. Eligibility & Participation
Age Requirements
- Participants must generally be 18 years or older on race day (typical for half marathons), unless the organisers allow younger runners with guardian consent. (Not officially published but standard across similar events.)
Registration
- Online registration is required.
- Only registered runners with an official race number (Bib) will be allowed to participate.
Medical Fitness
- Participants compete at their own risk and should be medically fit to run a 21 km distance.
- A medical certificate or self-declaration of fitness may be required at bib collection (this is common practice in many half marathons).
3. Race Day Rules
Bib & Timing
- Bib numbers must be worn visibly on the chest throughout the race.
- Bibs are unique and non-transferable — exchanging bibs with another participant will lead to disqualification. (Standard rule in most marathons.)
Start Time
- Participants must line up in the designated area before the official flag-off time (organisers typically provide the timing and detailed race day schedule in advance).
Cut-off Time
- There may be a cut-off time to complete the half-marathon, after which participants may not be eligible for official ranking/certification — this is common in organised events (exact time would be confirmed by the organisers closer to the event).
Route & Checkpoints
- Runners must complete the designated 21 km route without shortcuts.
- Missing checkpoints or deviating from the marked course may result in disqualification. (Common marathon standard.)
4. Conduct & Safety
Sportsmanship
- All runners should behave respectfully toward others — rude or inappropriate conduct may lead to removal or future bans. (Based on general marathon rule sets.)
Medical & Safety Support
- Medical and hydration stations should be placed at regular intervals along the route (organiser usually specifies locations prior to event).
- If a runner is deemed medically unfit at any point by medical personnel, organisers may remove them for safety.
No Assistance
- Participants are expected to run under their own effort.
- Pacing by unregistered runners, wheel-assisted movement, or similar assistance is typically not allowed.
5. Results & Awards
Finisher Recognition
- Runners finishing the full 21 km within official standards usually receive:
- Finisher medal
- Timing certificate (if timing chips or tags are used)
(Common practice in half-marathon events.)
Timing & Ranking
- Official timing (manual or electronic) is used for rankings.
- Runners must cross timing mats or checkpoints to have a valid official time.
6. General Notes
- Changes & Cancellations: Organisers typically reserve the right to modify rules, event categories, or distances without prior notice.
- No refund of registration fees in case of non-participation.
- Documentation: Valid photo ID may be required at bib collection.
- Photography/Media: Participants usually consent to race photos and media use by registering
